WILD CARDS FOR WHITE AND DING  Latest Transfer

Crowd favourite Jimmy White and rising star Ding Junhui have been handed wild cards into January's SAGA Insurance Masters.

World Snooker have also confirmed the tournament will continue to be staged at the Wembley complex.

The Wembley Conference Centre had staged the tournament for 26 years but was demolished earlier this year; however the event will make the short move to a new home at Wembley Arena.

White, 44, has slumped to a provisional ranking of 50th in the world. But he won at Wembley in 1984 and has recently shown good form in the Premier League, thrashing Ding last week.

White said: "I'm absolutely delighted to be awarded a wild card.

"It's my favourite event other than the World Championship. I'm sure I'll get great support again at Wembley - my fans there are fantastic."

Chinese prodigy Ding, 19, has won the China Open, UK Championship and Northern Ireland Trophy over the past two years and will make his third Wembley appearance.

"I am always confident of rising to the big occasion, so I hope I can achieve success this time," he said.

The world's top 16 players qualify automatically, and a third wild card will also be awarded to the winner of a qualifying event next month.

Meanwhile, SAGA Insurance have extended their sponsorship of the event for a further three years - in a deal worth a 'seven-figure' sum, according to World Snooker.
