Australia's Peter Civoniceva said the 16-12 win over New Zealand in the Tri-Nations final erased the memory of last year's thrashing by the Kiwis.
"It was heartbreaking the way we got beaten last year," said the prop.
"This one is the best ever. They were two very competitive sides and it just came down to who wanted it the most.
"New Zealand fought their way back into the match to their great credit - but you can just never ever forget the Aussie spirit."
