Tony McCoy was among the prizes again just hours after missing out on the shortlist for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award.
McCoy won the National Hunt jockey honour at racing's Derby Awards.
Paul Nicholls took the trainer's equivalent, while rider Ryan Moore and Marcus Tregoning won the Flat versions.
McCoy, 11-times the champion jump jockey, had earlier failed to make the 10-strong shortlist for the BBC prize, in which he came third in 2002.
Other winners at the 40th annual Horserace Writers & Photographers' Association awards included Brian Meehan, named top international trainer.
The 15-times champion National Hunt trainer Martin Pipe, who retired earlier in the year, received the President's Trophy
And another newly-retired trainer, Ginger McCain, was given the George Ennor Trophy for outstanding achievement following a career which included four Grand National wins.
Clifford Baker, who works for Nicholls, and John Wilsoncroft, an employee of Rae Guest, won the Stable Staff of the Year award.
They both received a £500 cheque from sponsors Blue Square.
