Justin Rose, who has not won on the European Tour for four years, leads by two shots going into the final round of the Australian Masters at Huntingdale.
The Englishman had an eagle and four birdies in his third round of 68 to lie on 13 under.
Frenchman Raphael Jacquelin and Australian pair Greg Chalmers and Aaron Pike share second place on 11 under.
Paul Casey is among a group a shot further back after his round of 67, featuring an eagle and six birdies.
Rose began steadily with four pars and a bogey before picking up shots at the sixth, seventh, 10th and 12th.
His eagle came at the 14th when from 275 yards, he landed the ball two feet from the hole with a two iron.
"That really was my shot of the day, shot of the week, maybe even shot of the year," said Rose.

"I thought at the start of this week 15-under would have a chance and there's still plenty of guys who can do that so I'll need to play well still."
Ryder Cup star Casey was relieved to move up the leaderboard into contention after opening rounds of 71 and 70.
"I did not have my head into gear in the first round, I trundled through the second round and made the cut," said the Englishman.
"Then for some reason it caught fire in the middle of the round," added Casey, who hit five birdies in six holes round the turn in his third round.
