Rest of the World skipper Retief Goosen and Michael Campbell helped their team to a 2½ to 1½ lead over Europe and the USA in the inaugural Goodwill Trophy.
The pair finished 5&4 winners over Colin Montgomerie and Chris DiMarco in the foursomes at the Mission Hills Golf Club in Shenzhen on Monday.
And KJ Choi and Thongchai Jaidee earned a 3&2 victory over Paul Casey and Alejandro Canizares.
The tournament concludes with the singles matches on Tuesday.
Swede Henrik Stenson and Briton Bradley Dredge won a point back for the Ryder Cup countries by beating Australians Paul Sheehan and Peter Senior 4&3.
China's Zhang Lianwei and Jeev Milkha Singh of India shared the spoils after finishing all square with Britons Luke Donald and Nick Dougherty in their match.
Montgomerie, skipper of the Ryder Cup select side, said: "They played very, very well, they went way, way under par and we were not and the gap was quite wide.
"The other team members played well and we got one and a half points so we go into the singles, where we are stronger, with every chance of clawing our way back into this trophy."
Goosen added: "We have a good side that is very well balanced. We got off to a nice start, we are up by a point and hopefully we can keep building on Tuesday morning."
