| Salas Returns To Chile |
Marcelo Salas has returned home after re-signing with Universidad de Chile for the coming campaign.
The Chile international was recently plying his trade with Argentine giants River Plate, but has opted to be nearer his family in Santiago after making the switch.
The former Lazio and Juventus hit-man stated he had enough playing abroad and has chosen to return home.
"I am going to stay in Chile," Salas said. "I want to be near to my daughters and in addition to that, I got tired of being abroad.
"That made me choose to stay in Chile and resign the financial part."
Universidad de Chile president Lino Diaz Ramos stated that the goalscoring hero will be given protection from the public during his time at the club.
"We are going to hire special security for Marcelo, so he avoids being approached by people that want to touch him or ask him for autographs," said Ramos.
"We will also protect him from the press. We don't want him to suffer any kind of invasion."
