| Bernhardt Chooses Alaves |
Newly-promoted Alaves have continued their furious transfer activity by making forward Arthuro Bernhardt their 12th signing of the summer.
The 22-year-old attacking midfielder has signed a five-year deal after being given a free transfer by Racing Santander.
The Italian-Brazilian youngster had an ill-fated spell at Middlesbrough earlier in his career, as he saw his time on Teesside ruined by a groin injury.
After leaving Boro, he headed for Racing who loaned him out to Segunda outfit Sporting Gijon last season, where he made a total of 24 appearances.
Alaves appear to have pulled off something of a coup, as their president Dmitri Piterman revealed on presenting the player that he had beaten Real Madrid to his signature.
"Real Madrid were very angry because they wanted to sign Arthuro, I suppose for their B team," he stated.
