| Celtic Complete Goalkeeper Hunt |
Celtic manager Gordon Strachan has ended his search for a new goalkeeper by completing the capture of Polish international Artur Boruc.
Strachan had been scouring the market for a new shot-stopper, with Southampton's Antti Niemi in the frame.
A fee could not be agreed with Southampton for Niemi, prompting him to move for Boruc.
The 24-year-old has sealed a season-long loan from Legia Warsaw, with a view to a permanent move, after passing a medical.
Strachan confirmed Boruc caught his eye last term and made his move after failing to land Niemi.
"He's the Polish number two at the moment; I saw him at the end of last season," said Strachan.
"Gary Pendrey (Celtic assistant manager) then saw him in another game at the end of last season.
"We tried to get Antti Niemi and that deal came to an end in the early hours of Friday morning when we made our final bid to Rupert (Lowe).
"He asked for a certain amount of money, but we couldn't make it, because our budget wouldn't stretch to that.
"That's why immediately we went full out for Artur.
"What we are getting is a player who is hungry. He is a lad who was desperate to get here and he speaks good English, which is a plus for us."
