| Mowbray Signs Polish Keeper |
Hibernian have swooped to sign Polish keeper Zbigniew Malkowski after he impressed during a recent trial.
The giant 27-year-old has been allowed to move on from Dutch side Feyenoord, where he failed to climb above Patrick Lodewijks in the pecking order.
Malkowski was invited to Edinburgh and took part in Hibs' tour of Ireland, where he impressed manager Tony Mowbray.
Mowbray offered the keeper a two-year deal and he wasted no time in accepting the terms on offer and will provide competition for Simon Brown at Easter Road next term.
Mowbray is delighted to have brought in a genuine contender for the number one jersey in the Scottish capital.
"Ziggy provides us with some competition in goal," Mowbray told the club's website. "Simon Brown will have seen him in Ireland and knows that we have a top-quality goalkeeper joining the club, competition is always good for the squad.
"John Park saw him first in Holland and Mark had also taken a look, and we got very good reports back about him.
"For us it is about getting the right players in and building a team that can gel and create a team spirit that can bring them through times when they need to stick together."
