 Burley leaves Tynecastle  Latest Transfer

George Burley has sensationally left Hearts, GafferSports understands.

Burley arrived at Tynecastle in the summer with high hopes of taking on the Old Firm for the SPL title and the Edinburgh club currently sits in top position after a sensational start to the campaign.

However, it is understood that the ex Premiership manager has had his differences with major shareholder, Vladimir Romanov. It is unclear whether Burley has walked or been pushed from the hotseat but confirmation is expected from a Hearts statement at 1800 BST.

Burley is no stranger to controversy after he resigned from Derby County in June, claiming his position was 'untenable' due to his differences with Murdo Mackay, director of football.

The sensational news comes the day after Romanov announced a bid to take private control of the club.

Burley resigned his post at Derby County in June claiming his position was "untenable" after falling out with director of football Murdo Mackay.

At the time, Derby chairman John Sleightholme accused him of not making clear "his real reasons" for stepping down.

Burley was helped in his mission at Tynecastle by Romanov's pot of gold, however it became clear that Romanov was identifying many of the target signings and although Burley was adamant that he had "total control over selection", rumours started of a possible backroom battle.

Todays news will come as a massive shock to the Gorgie faithfull who, for the first time in many years, felt they had a manager and a squad to challenge the big guns of Scottish football.
