Brazil full-back Roberto Carlos admits he is flattered that Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho rates him so highly, but insists the only item on his immediate agenda is the World Cup.
The Real Madrid ace has been strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, with Mourinho confirming his admiration for the player in an interview with Portuguese television station TVI earlier this week, saying: "Roberto Carlos is 33 but for me he continues to be the best player in his position."
However, the player is fully focused on retaining the World Cup for his country in Germany and revealed that he will wait to see who Real's new president is before he makes a decision on his future.
"I already knew that Mourinho thought well of me and obviously it makes me happy that he has said that he wants to sign me for his team," Roberto Carlos said in Spanish sports daily AS.
"It is something to be proud of that a trainer like Mourinho feels this way, but also I want to think about the Real Madrid fans.
"At the moment I am fully focused on the World Cup in Germany and I don't want to think about anything else, and in any case it is necessary to wait a while until things stabilise at Madrid and there is a new president.
"My agent Jorge Mendes is in charge of talking with Madrid and depending on the intentions of the club we will see if I stay or they open the doors." |
