Dado Prso has admitted that Rangers are struggling to cope with the demands of both the SPL and Champions League.
The Scottish champions currently sit in fourth place, nine points behind leaders Hearts and missed the chance to close the gap at the top by only drawing with Dundee United at the weekend.
Rangers face Artmedia Bratislava, the side that knocked Glasgow rivals Celtic out of the Champions League, and will be hoping that they can pick up maximum points on Wednesday evening.
With eyes currently on both competitions, Prso admits that the inconsistency may continue.
"Before the Champions League, you start thinking about the Champions League game," the Croat admitted.
"Afterwards, you still have that Champions League game in your legs and it's hard to play for about three days after.
"We are not machines."
Maximum points in the next two games against Artmedia would put the Ibrox club in a strong position as they look to qualify for the knockout stage of the competition.
Prso, who went all the way to the Champions League final in 2004 with former club Monaco, would however give that up if it guaranteed him a Championship medal.
"If someone asked me, I would prefer to finish first in the SPL.
"For me, the priority is the SPL and the bonus is the Champions League.
"If we want to play in the Champions League next year then we need a good SPL run."
Prso may have extra responsibility up front for the game on Wednesday, with four strikers currently struggling through injury.
Nacho Novo and Thomas Buffel are already out, whilst Francis Jeffers may be joining them on the treatment table after feeling tightness in his hamstring at the weekend.
Steven Thompson is back in contention but is short of match practise, leaving Federico Nieto and youngster Ross McCormack to battle it out to partner Prso in attack. |
