Wolves and Scotland striker Kenny Miller is poised to sign for Celtic, with negotiations at an advanced stage, BBC Sport understands.
The 26-year-old has been in Glasgow for signing talks at Celtic Park.
Miller, previously of Hibernian and Rangers, is out of contract at the end of the season and has rejected offers of a new contract from Wolves.
He is likely to sign a pre-contact agreement but could leave in January should Celtic table an acceptable bid.
Rangers had been linked with bringing the player back to Ibrox, but their interest has apparently cooled.
It had been thought that Miller was keen on being given another chance to shine in the Premiership, having suffered relegation to the Championship with Wolves.
And the player's agent insists that Miller's options are still open, with David Baldwin saying: "There is no pre-contract in place yet with any club.
"Kenny is looking at things, and we are considering his options.
"Family, football and finance are the things Kenny must consider - and that is what he is doing.
"As is widely known, there are a number of options for Kenny - and indeed he could yet move abroad.
"We have had a couple of Serie A clubs ask about him, and no doubt that has materialised after Kenny's terrific show against Italy during the World Cup qualifiers.
"But nothing has been agreed yet, and Kenny and I are sitting down and going over the options."
But it seems Miller is set to join the Scottish Premier League leaders and become one of the few post-war players to have performed for both sides of the Old Firm.
Alfie Conn played for Rangers then Celtic, via Tottenham Hotspur, in the 1970s.
Fellow forward Mo Johnston, more controversially, joined Rangers in 1989 from Nantes after publically saying that he was looking forward to a second spell with Celtic.
Miller spent four years in the green and white of Hibernian before moving to Ibrox for ?2m in 2000.
He struggled to make an impact with Rangers and was sold to Wolves for ?3m 18 months later.
Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey said: "Just like any player who is out of contract at the end of the season, Kenny is entitled to speak to other clubs.
"But we've only had one bid for him, from Sheffield United, and we didn't accept that." |
