Arsene Wenger wants Thierry Henry's contractual situation at Arsenal quickly resolved.
The Gunners boss has been heartened by his star striker's public declaration that he will extend his stay in North London but is keen for the uncertainty to be ended once and for all.
Barcelona are known to be determined to land the France forward but Arsenal's hope is that they can match his demands and tie him down to a new deal ahead of the move to Ashburton Grove.
"I always felt, once he had made his mind up, the situation should be sorted out quite quickly," Wenger told Sky Sports News. "That's my desire now because the longer it lasts, it is not good for the club and for the team.
"So, if he did not make his mind up, I was ready to wait but, now he has made his mind up, I feel we have to act quickly.
"That, again, doesn't depend only on me - it depends on the negotiations and when he will be ready to sign.
"But I think the quicker the better."
Wenger also revealed he will hold talks with Jens Lehmann and Robert Pires over the next fortnight.
"Jens should be sorted out in January," he predicted. "We've played so many games and I don't find the time to talk to players at the moment but him and Pires, we'll have a chat with.
"Not this week, as we play twice, but next week."
