Rafa Benitez has urged his players to focus on beating Barcelona for a second time rather than reminisce about the victory at Camp Nou two weeks ago.
Benitez's team claimed an outstanding 2-1 win in the UEFA Champions League first leg through goals from Craig Bellamy and John Arne Riise and hope to progress with a positive result at Anfield on Tuesday
Benitez is expecting a very different match on home soil but suggested that his team would go looking for victory against the Catalans rather than seeking to contain their illustrious visitors.
"It will be a different game but our idea is to try to win," Benitez told Sky Sports News.
"We don't need to think about the first leg, we need to think about a new game at Anfield with our supporters behind us.
"We will try to win but it will be a different plan."
Benitez believes his side could take positives from the weekend defeat to Manchester United, but does not expect that match to have any bearing on Tuesday's.
"The positive thing was that we played well [against United], we deserved to win but we couldn't. This is another competition, another team, another match and we have confidence that we can do it."
