Patrick Vieira believes his move to Juventus will lead to a greater tactical maturity in his already formidable midfield repertoire.
The French international moved to Juve from Arsenal in the summer and has settled quickly into life at Stadio delle Alpi.
After almost 10 years at Highbury, Vieira feels playing in Serie A will prove hugely beneficial to his all-round game.
"I am 29-years-old, I think it is the perfect age for the post I am playing at," he told L'Equipe.
"What I am expecting from Italy and Juventus is to improve on a tactics level.
"For example knowing more precisely when I have to defend, or attack, when I have to be decisive.
"I am very happy in Turin even if we haven't found a house yet."
Vieira was on international duty on Saturday but apologised for turning in a below-par performance against Switzerland.
The French could have booked their ticket to Germany with a win over the Swiss on Saturday, but they were held to a 1-1 draw and Vieira is taking the blame for Les Bleus not securing maximum points.
"For a match of such importance, my performance was very, very average," Vieira added.
"In the first half I was really not good at all - I take responsibility for the imperfections and inadequacies.
"Fortunately for me there is still Wednesday's match against Cyprus to play.
"I think it is 50-50 for direct qualification, because a Swiss win in Ireland is not impossible." |
