 Thompson out of Scotland sqaud  Latest Transfer

Rangers striker Steven Thompson and Aberdeen defender Russell Anderson have been ruled out of Scotland's World Cup qualifiers against Belarus and Slovenia.

The Scots hold an outside chance of taking second place in Group Five, but only wins over Belarus and Slovenia will suffice.

Manager Walter Smith is already without James McFadden and Jackie McNamara and Thompson and Anderson have added to his worries.

The Scottish FA confirmed the absences on their website, but say there are no plans to draft in replacements.
